Lisa has been designing Native American art for over 12 years. Each piece had a purpose and became a piece of art that she wanted to share with her community.
This design is a representation of the Native American appreciation for life and nature. This is the only piece where hands are actually holding the animal. Since the beginning of time, Salmon has been the main food source for Native American’s of the Pacific Northwest. Understanding how important such an animal is to the culture and our survival was vital for this piece. Hands hold this animal more delicately than others is to represent the great appreciation and existence of the salmon. Inside the salmon you’ll find the circle of life. The head in the middle represents the human, the salmons fish eggs represent future generations and the whale heads in the tail represent the salmon as an important food source for the whale.
